King , Cammings , So the Convention concurred in the motion of Mr . Cary to recon sider .
Mr . Cary moved to amend section 5 by striking out in the second line , after the word “ law , " the words , “ The State , until otherwise provided by law , shall be divided into seven districts , for the election of judges , " and inserting in lieu thereof the words , “ The State sha ! ) be divided into seven districts , for the election of judges , and until otherwise provided by law they shall be arranged ; " which motion was agreed to .
And the question being , Will the Convention concur in the amendment of the committee of the Whole , as amended by Mr . Cary ? ”
And being put , it was decided in the affirmative . So the Convention concurred in said amendment .
Mr . Turner moved to amend by striking out the words “ Judicial Divisions , " in the twenty - sixth line , and insert in lieu thereof the word “ district , " and , in the twenty - seventh line , strike out the words " increased or diminished , " after the word “ altered , " and striking out the words " and of equal apportionment of judges , according to popu lation . "
And the question being upon the motion to amend , And being put , it was decided in the affirmative . So the Convention concurred in the amendments of Mr . Turner .
The question then being , “ Will the Convention adopt section 5 , as amended ? "
And being put , it was decided in the affirmative . So the Convention adopted section 5 , as ainended . The Convention then adopted section 6 .
